Teen years versus twenties.

Teen years:
Sometimes this house feels like a prison that I just can't leave behind. There's so many rules I gotta follow cause you can't let go. I don't wanna hear it and I just can't believe it, all the stupid things you say. But one day I won't take this anymore. One day I'll be old enough to do what I want to. And I won't have to run away and you won't be there to say I'm not allowed to. One day. Sometimes I wonder if you know me or if you just pretend to care. So tell me are you on a mission to bring me down? I don't wanna hear it and I just can't believe it, all the stupid things you say. But one day I won't take this anymore. One day I'll be old enough to do what I want to. And I won't have to run away and you won't be there to say I'm not allowed to. One day. Go away. Don't look at me. Cause we're not the same and you can't do nothing. You can say that it's not OK. But I'm not OK and you can't do nothing. One day I won't take this anymore. I'll be old enough to do what I want to. And I won't have to run away and you won't be there to say I'm not allowed to. One day.

Twenties:
Singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs with the boombox blaring as we're falling in love. Got a bottle of whatever but let's get in this truck singing here's to never growing up. Call up all our friends. Go hard this weekend for no damn reason. I don't think we'll ever change. Meet you at the spot half past ten o'clock. We don't ever stop and we're never gonna change. Say - won't you say forever. Stay - if you stay forever. Hey - we can stay forever young. Singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs with the boombox blaring as we're falling in love. Got a bottle of whatever but let's get in this truck singing here's to never growing up. We'll be running down the street yelling kiss my ass. I'm like yeah whatever we're still living like that. When the sun's going down we'll be raising our cups singing here's to never growing up. We live like rockstars, dance on every bar, this is who we are. I don't think we'll ever change. They say just grow up. But they don't know us. We don't give a fuck and we're never gonna change.

Simply, when you're a teen all you want is to grow up and move out and not having your parents telling you what to do (they still try). When you're in your twenties all you care about is not growing up. Funny how that works.
