Happy Halloween

That day again. And I haven't even had the time to "celebrate" the way I use to with one horror movie each day for the entire week of Halloween. I bought sweets and I gave to the children who came knocking on my door while trick-or-treating. The only thing I've done today has been to study :/ But I guess that's the way it goes when Halloween comes around in the middle of the week.

Tiffany is in Malmö this week and she wanted to meet up. Yesterday she, I, Kajsa and Didrik went out for dinner together and ended up hanging out for some three hours. Great company as always. I kind of miss those days, but at the same time it feels like so much has happened that it's ages ago. Figuring out that it was only 3½ years ago that we graduated had all of us kind of surprised. It's been almost a year since I last saw Tiffany and it was fun :)

Cause it's Halloween:

Thinking of all the cool creatures that I will meet on this night
Ghosts and goblins and witches roaming the streets in moonlight
Bowls of candies and goodies, delicious and waiting in store
The sound of cute little footsteps as they approach my front door

Letting the children inside to drink beers
Razorblades hidden in three musketeers
Screams from the basement of kids begging to be set free
That's what Halloween means to me

Tightening the clamps that are holding their little heads so tight
Putting my lips to their ears as I whisper "please, don't fight"
"I promise I'll let you go home if you swear not to tell a soul
Well, I'll just untie these, I'm kidding, now where is my chainsaw - let's rock n' roll"

A pinch of your brother, a teaspoon of you
with the head of your sister, would make a good stew
I'd give you a taste, but your tongue's in the stew - irony
That's what Halloween means to me

Trick or treat - smell my feet
Give me something good to eat
Trick or treat - smell my feet
Give me someone good to eat

And because I can't decide which is the best one of the two:

More parties, more school and some other stuff as well

Haven't posted anything since midterms. It feels like forever, but it's actually only about a week ago O_o Time flies.

Saturday 20th was a tough day. First there was midterms. It went pretty well I think. But for the last part, grammar, I got one hell of a headache and suddenly I couldn't think anymore and I couldn't understand Japanese anymore. I did half of it half-heartedly and I'm pretty sure I'll have to retake that part of the exam. Hopefully I'll pass the other parts. After I handed in my exam I had to rush to the train station to get on the train to my grandparents' place. It was my grandfather's birthday. It was pretty fun being there, it always is tbh. And I got to play tech-support :P

Sunday I cleaned up and did some laundry. The rest of the day was gaming. I'm level 40 in Skyrim now :P

Monday and Wednesday I was in school as per usual, but I skipped Tuesday and stayed at home to catch up on some studying. Skipping school to study? Welcome to univeristy! On Wednesday I had the opposition on my French dissertation, which went well considering I hadn't actually talked French since May. But now my French dissertation is successfully out of the way. I passed and it's done. All that's left for French now is a resit in November that I'll try my best to pass. But this little trip back to French actually got me wanting to study French again O_o I'm weird like that. Right now I'm not sure whether I'll apply for the Translators' program in French or in Japanese... I guess that depends on how well I do in Japanese by the end of next semester...

Anyway on Wednesday Toni arrived so after my opposition I went to pick him up at the train station and then we got on the bus home. It was his first time seeing my new flat. Just after I moved in he asked me not to spoil anything until he could see it :P But now he has so now it's alright for me to show off my new and awesome flat!

Thursday we spent indoors after I overslept and missed school. First I played some, then Toni played some while I took up writing again on my laptop. I've also started reading fanfics again. That's where my desire to write came from. It all came back when I started reading all those fanfics. Right now I'm totally hooked up on Snape/Hermione :) But getting to write again felt nice and I've even started figure out what to do with my pirate story and it has evolved into the next stage and morphed into more classical fantasy. I've got the bad guy figured out and what he'll do to the world and how it will happen. I'm now considering making that stand-alone novel a series, a trilogy. But that all depends on how much of the story I have in mind I can fit in one novel.

Friday we went to IKEA to buy a kitchen table for me. I spent the afternoon putting it together and the evening was spent with my parents at their place with awesome food, sweets and television :) Classic Friday.

Saturday was partytime. I was a little disappointed when two friends decided to drop out, but the party turned out to be great anyway. A sample of the music played:
After way too much to drink I fell into my bed about 1 am. Successful party was successful. People seemed to have fun anyway and so did I :) Maybe I should do this again?

Yesterday was a very sad day since Toni was going home. It always feels so empty and to see the train leave or be on the train that leaves always give me a great feeling that something's missing. And something, someone, is missing every minute of every hour of every day.

Today I've mostly been studying and reading fanfics. I'm really feeling like playing The Sims 2 again. Maybe I should leave Skyrim for some time and pick up The Sims 2 again? But for now I'm gonna go do my nails and then we'll see what the evening offers. The night is still young.

Toodles :)

Movies, parties, music, studying, Harry Potter and Edinburgh

Once again I haven't posted anything in forever. But there's been a lot of stuff going on! Midterms are tomorrow so I've been busy studying as well as some other things ofc.

Wednesday 10th I took the train north to Toni. It's already gotten so cold up there! O_o Thursday and Friday were spent studying and gaming (Skyrim for me, Dishonored and Mass Effect 3 for him). We also saw The Lorax, which is a film I've wanted to see for quite some time. I wanted to see it when it showed at the cinema, but they only showed it in Swedish :( It's a children's movie but it's kind of fun and it deals with an important issue - trees, fresh air, nature and environmental destruction. I guess that's mainly the reason for why I liked the movie despite all the childishness. We also watched Suck: Vampires rock, which was a lot of fun for me cause Alice Cooper was in it :D *fangirl*

Saturday was a big day. It was the birthday of the littlest one of Toni's three nieces so we went to her birthday party. She turned 3. I guess you all know by now how I behave around new people and I've kind of gotten used to most of his family, but it's different with children. For some reason it always seems more important to get children to like you, I don't know why. So I'm always nervous going to his sister's house. But I can see why the girls have a hard time with me. I'm new and strange and I don't talk much and when I do I talk weirdly (we have a different dialect here down south). But this time I went there as nervous as per usual and I left there feeling quite happy and way more comfortable than I have had before. After cake and opening the presents (which was a major flashback to my little sister and I when we were children) I suddenly became very popular with the littlest one and I have no idea what happened. But suddenly she was all "Elin, look at me!" "Look at this, Elin!" So cute. She had gotten a cute little plastic suitcase with blocks with Hello Kitty on them and she wanted me to play with them with her. I still don't know what happened there... But I felt accepted and that's always a great feeling.

Later that evening it was time for another party at Toni's flat. This one of a bit more adult nature :P Alcohol, music and friends. This girl's music has pretty much become mandatory to play now. And are you surprised if I say that this is my favourite video of her:
The night ended with us all going downtown to one of the local rockbars, which is always a great time.

Sunday was another day spent gaming and then watching a movie: Cirque du Freak: Vampire's Assistant. Monday Toni had work and I spent the day studying and gaming. Same for Tuesday. But when he got home on Tuesday evening it was time for more cosiness and several episodes of Big Bang Theory

Wednesday 17th I had to go home due to conversation midterm being on Thursday. Going home is never fun. It's terrible. But it has to be done every now and then and well, there really isn't anything one can do about it, although it sucks.

Anyway the conversation midterm went well I think. Afterwards I could count all the mistakes I did, but I still think I did well enough for a passing grade.

What I've done while blogging this is half listening half watching the live web cast (well, not so live right now, more like recorded web cast) of JK Rowling and some guy from Scholastic. I loved watching/listening to it. Mainly because of her discussing the characters and her favourite moments in the books. I love what she said about Hufflepuff in the end and I love all the hints that were made that we pretty soon will see some chapters from Prisoner of Azkaban on Pottermore. Well, I pretty much loved it. Watch it! Please do.
I also love the presentation of Edinburgh in the beginning of the video. Made me laugh out loud "Is there still a guy playing bagpipes at that corner?!" and "I've been there!" "And there!" "And there!" So I'll give you four pictures from Edinburgh as well.

I'll leave you guys with my favourite song as of right now. Enjoy the web cast and the music ^^
And now there'll be Skyrim.

My favourite Japanese songs

Alright, so I'm overdosing on Japanese and everything I think is mixed with Japanese words. I actually have to think before I talk so that I don't blurt out something in Japanese to someone who wont have any idea what I'm saying xD

Some of the videos are subtitled. Some of them are not. I'll link to English translations for those without subs.  Since the Japanese artists started getting YouTube-accounts the subtitled videos have been decreasing. It's suddenly more common with Spanish subtitles than English ones, although it used to be the other way around. The songs with [*] in front of the name indicates songs that's not an overload of cuteness and that I think many (if not most) people can enjoy.

[*] Bump of Chicken - "Hana no Na"

Buono! - "Rottara Rottara" (translation)

C-ute - "Edo no Temari Uta II"

[*] Hangry & Angry - "Reconquista" (couldn't find a translation for this)

[*] Hello! Project - "Ame no Furanai Hoshi de wa Aisenai darou?"

[*] Kamiki Aya - "Mou Kimidake wo Hanashitari wa Shinai" (translation)

[*] miwa - "Kataomoi" (translation)

[*] Miyavi - "Boku wa Shitteru" (translation)

Morning Musume - "Kare to Issho ni Omise ga Shitai"

Morning Musume - "Renai Hunter"

[*] Tommy heavenly6 - "gothic pink" (translation)

[*] Up-Front Agency - "Ai wa Katsu"

Listening to this song always gives me lots of feelings at the same time. The agency that hosts most of my favourite Japanese artists decided that the entire agency would do this as support for Japan and all those who suffered from the major earthquake in 2011. The first few times I heard this and saw this video I always felt like crying for realising that there's still some good in mankind, and that we do support eachother in hardships.

[*] Yaguchi Mari - "Seishun Boku"

Japanese, French, Skyrim, Abercrombie

So since last time I've ofc done a heap of schoolwork and there's more to come since next week is midterm! GAAAH! O_O But I'm feeling quite confident about half of them (two parts out of four): grammar and kanji. I'm less confident about speaking (since, you know, it involves talking in front of people) and reading comprehension. If there's just one kanji I don't understand it could ruin the entire thing. Thus, kanji practice is of highest priority!

Also, I've soon managed a passing grade on my French dissertation and all that's left now is a presentation and a resistant. And if I pass the resit in a month I'll be officially rid of French \^o^/

When it comes to Skyrim I've been way too busy gaming. I've been spending way too much time on that game. As of right now I'm level 31 and I'm planning on playing it tonight. Some things are still way too hard. I wish all the frost mages would use fire instead. I'm dunmer! I have a resistance to fire! Please, use fire on me!

But the big event of today was the signing I went to. Joe Abercrombie visited Sweden for the release of his new book, Red Country, and I took the opportunity to meet&greet and get his autograph in my brand new edition of Red Country. I had promised myself on beforehand that I wouldn't get flustered, but ofc I did. He asked me what I wanted him to write and my mind went totally blank. So I just told him that my favourite character was Glokta and he wrote the line that perfectly personifies him along with his own name.
Along with the new Abercrombie book I also bought the new book in a Swedish urban fantasy series that takes place in my hometown of Malmö. The author actually works at that very same store and she was there today so I got that book signed as well. Success! \^o^/ Felt kind of weird getting her to sign it. She's been working there ever since the store opened there and I've been visiting that store ever since then. We are on greeting terms and small talk terms, I'd call it well-aqcuainted. Because of that it felt kind of weird to me, but she was totally cool about it.

Now I'll go back to my dissertation for a bit and then I'll probably start gaming. I'll leave you all with this song that's been in my head for a few days now:
The English is somewhat faulty in places (not my translation), but at least it's understandable.

Small update

Haven't been blogging for a week and a half, but there's been a lot going on. I've been playing Skyrim pretty much every night since I last blogged and I will soon be level 27. Except for that I spent last weekend packing my stuff and hanging out with Toni ^^ We went to see ParaNorman, which was really great. Awesome movie. See it!

Then on Monday I moved into my new flat in Malmö and since then I've been really busy unpacking and making the place really mine and I'm getting there. It's not finished so I can't show you any pictures yet but it's starting to look great :)

This was just a small update since I'm not really in the mood for blogging and still have lots to do. And I'll soon be on my way to school.
